HI has advantages by using AI, and by not using it. Sometimes AI can expand our creative output. Sometimes we just need pen or pencil and paper, jotting down ideas, scribbling intuitive reflections and insights, and letting the human brain incubate on them. Then we can decide if we want to continue by embracing AI as our eye opener and our voice amplifier. Therefore, education should invite children and youth to sail the world with their minds, so they navigate AI into a creative, human centered world.
Let me tell you a story,
Once I sat among dear friends at one of our children’s weddings. As our friends were chatting, I took out my little notepad and scribbled a tree

The tree was probably lively and cute, reflecting the joy I felt. I came home and hung the tree scribble on the changing exhibition on our refrigerator, so I’d see it often. And let it incubate. After a while, I painted this:

At a conference presentation I used some of my other paintings to create a transformational process empowering educators with creative intelligence. The final stage was this tree. I told them this is how I wanted them to enter class. Fully grounded and energized to contain the children’s creative energy and to mold it into intelligence. More than understanding what I meant, they felt it. Then I showed them stage zero of the process: my first tree scribble, to show them the power of a scribble. A participating teacher shared: ‘Students feel ashamed to scribble, as if it is not serious learning.’
What if we inspired secondary school students, raising their curiosity for PBL. Then invite them to jot down ideas and insights before they use AI to develop the project?
What if we ignited elementary school students, raising their curiosity about the world, and inviting them to jot down ideas and insights. We can say: ‘Great ideas. Let’s elevate them with better grammar and vocabulary’.
Then, the students would express their inner voice. When they prompt AI to expand their learning, they would gain leveraged creativity intelligence.
So let’s open our eyes, and hearts, to a warm education that lets children express themselves.
When we learn about their inner world, we can foster their human skills based on their interests and gifts. They would be intrinsically motivated. And that would save the burden to discipline the class. Classroom management would evolve into classroom organization, as teachers creatively solve little problems, and direct children and youth to go on learning and growing, as creative humans. As future creative, innovative, and productive professionals of their fields, assisted by AI but counting on their human intelligence.
